Should be able to. I remember the G2 tailcap and U2 tailcap can be swapped, based on some pictures.

I have a G2 in our car with one of those huge Z48 clickie tailcaps on it. The tailcap fits and works fine though it looks sort of funny having this giant HAIII tailcap on the nitrolon G2. Sure makes the light more handy being able to click it on with one hand and look for things lost under seats etc. (think minivan with four sub-four year olds!).

P.S. That tailcap actually cost more than the light! I got it for one of my M series lights, but it found its way into the car.
