looks like 5mm leds in 3 colors all around the bezel. What if anything is in the center at the focal point? Or, is there a luxeon in the center with colored leds around the bezel?

Maybe I'm wrong, but it sounds like a luxeon in the center with red and blue 5mms in a ring around the luxeon. Sure, we may laugh now, but if Surefire developed this in response to a DARPA need, then maybe the multicolor LED ring will have its uses... as ugly as it is.

I want to see beamshots.

I'd bet the center Diode is strictly for throw with the white LEDs inthe ring for flood and red and blue for special purposes. I too want to play with one!

Its clearly a specialty light. The average person would have no need for this light, but there is a certain group that will love this light. its like a ugly A2 with interchangeable LED rings.

I expected at least a k2 out of that thing. But at 60 lum thats got to be a luxIII

This sounds like the ideal general use light for me. Dim white flood, (probably) decent throw with the main LED, and specialty colors for things like astronomy and whatever blue is supposed to be good for.

I'm kinda scratching my head over the blue, but then I've never used my blue filter too much either.

Any guesses as to how the user interface works with all that?

I wonder with the hike in battery prices if they will offer up a new rechargeable.

It looks a catadioptric optic is fitted on the central luxeon. One of our members did a detailed thread on those a few months ago, with lots of pictures . I can't remember who it was though.
