Seems like an unfair comparison I know, but would the new KL3 out throw the KL5? Where can I see a "real world" beamshot of the KL5?

The KL5 stomps the KL3 in lumens and has to offer some nice "ram of light" spill.
BUT ... the KL3 throws very well, has virtually no side-spill (which can be an advantage, like not blinding those that walk with you in a group) and a superb runtime.

I'd say completely different animals, where my favourite would the the KL5.

Nice shots Bernie,

I am always tempted to get a KL3,
I like my KL5 alot,
but would like the advantage of runtime, I am just afrade the lack of spill will bother me too much :(

I think its beam is probably alot like my Inova T4

...just wondering why this pic is named "OutdoorU2level6.jpg"? :sssh:

I'm also close to a decision between these two heads, if I could just decide which one will be my first Surefire: an E2E as "base" for the KL1/4 or the C2 for the KL3/5.

Do you think anything less than the KL5 will satisfy my desire if take my HDS U60 as reference and expect a 2 cell Surefire to ouperform it in both throw and overall output?
Runtime isn't that important for me.

It is a U2 on level 6 being equal to a KL5 head in beam characteristics. :D

If your require both output and throw to be superior to the HDS ... you'll need the KL5 out of the choices you presentes. IMHO.
