I've had an Opalec for a couple of years. Tonight I bought the Nite-Ize Minimag upgrade. (Wow! What a deal for $5!!!) Anyway...as I was taking apart the minimag, I noticed that the original plastic lens had yellowed quite a bit. I realize I could buy a nice glass replacement, but, do I really need it? My old Infinity doesn't have a lens. Neither does my Peak or my Photon. So do I really need a lens for the Opalec or the Nite-Ize upgrade? Am I missing something?

I guess with a lens and o-ring fronting it + other o-rings at all openings, the minimag is water resistant or waterproof to some depth. Without a lens, no water, sir.

Not to mention, the plating on the reflector will oxidize faster if exposed to the elements. That's if it has one- I'm not familiar with the Nite Ize conversion, and too lazy to research it. :green:
