It is cuz we won that war back in the 1700's. We spell how we want.
No offence intended,I got pals over there they think I spell just fine.
Or "Dandy" what the heck is "Dandy"

Perhaps the same reason Brits and Aussies pronounce "data" as "dater".

It's these electronic fandangled things such as emails, and short messaging services that people tend to forego proper spelling and grammar.

I think it is only the minority in England that have trouble spelling those words properly, a throwback to the rule of King James.

If anyone doesn't understand it. In some countrys they spell "color" as "colour" and some countrys spell Sulfur differently

I like to think that we (Americans) speak American, not British/English, like a dialect.

I'm still trying to figure out why it's maths and not math.
I do like "in hospital" better than "in the hospital."
