Diffuser for bare Luxeon?

I'm making a little lantern using a plastic jar I have with 4AAs inside and a bare Luxeon on top. Does anybody know of something small and cheap I can put over the luxeon to diffuse the light, so you don't go blind if you look at it directly? :)

Are you familiar with the plastic diffusion gratings they use on flourescent ceiling lights? A piece or two of that will do. Here:

What do you think about a blob of epoxy over the top of the emitter? Would the light be kind of yellow from the color of the epoxy? I want it to be something somewhat water proof...
