Hey Guys,

I just got the Surfire U2 Ultra and have had a few problems with it. The button to switch it on does not always work. Is this a common defect, is there a way to fix it????

Thanks,

Josh

unfortunately this is a common problem with the U2 (at least one of the common problems). This happened to me. Simply call Surefire to get a tailcap replacement. Call them....don't email them. They'll have a new one to you in about a month.

call SF to get a replacement

If you're "handy" and like to fix things yourself, lift the little metal tabs inside the tailcap with a small screwdriver or a toothpick - that should do it (unlees, of course, the tailcap is stuck, which you can fix by taking it apart and lubing the innards). Look for Jason's (forget full CPF name right now) post on the subject, there's lots of info there.

I called SF about mine when I got it 7 weeks ago. They immediately sent a new tailcap, saying I shouldn't worry about fixing it, even though I said I could if it was easy. With a paper clip, it took me 5 seconds to slightly bend the tabs up, and it's worked fine since then.
