Hi everyone,

I have a KL3 module which I find exellent. As a real thrower, it has almost no sidespill, but WHAT a THROW !!!!!

To get about a 50m throw with only 20 lumens shows how tight the beam is. This TIR optic is really great!

Now, I found myself thinking: what about the same light equiped with a T or U binned led, driven @ high current? It would be quite a challenger even for bigger D mags. All this in a compact, nice finish and tough package.

What do you think about it? Do you think it would be possible to achieve this mod?

edit: dang! I should have posted this in "custom and modified". Sorry

sure if one were to open it up replace the luxeon, and tweak or replace the circuit.

I'm curious that if at 1000ma the TIR can beat a Mag reflector at 1000ma...

What is the KL3 driven at stock?

1000 seems alittle high, and may not be worth the extra battery drain,
but about 750mA would be nice.

I have been wanting a KL3 to go with my KL5,
but the lack of spill is making me think I wont like it.
But, if it was a killer thrower, I would jump on it.
So, I am interested in this mod also :D

Has anyone compared the KL3 to the Inova T4?
They have similar beams, and I would like to know how my T4 stacks up against the KL3.

oh, BTW, I really dont see this mod being able to throw like a LuxIII mag, they can hit 10,000 Lux.
