I have been thinking about getting a KL3 for quite some time now.
But I am concerned that the lack of spill will make me not use it all that much.
I do however, think that I would like it, if it had Killer throw for its size.

I have no other lights that really have it beam type, except my Inova T4.
So, can someone give me a few beamshots comparing the two?

Also, does anyone know what mA the KL3 is driving the led?
I have a feeling that its not gonna be driven as hard as I would like.

[Editted to Add] oh BTW,,, I like the older tapered bottom KL3s,
the newer ones are flat at the bottom portion,
can anyone confirm that this was the ONLY change they made to the light?
I would like to find a tapered body one, but not if its not as nice as the newer ones.

Thanks guys
~John

I like the 1st gen KL3, with the ribs... No jokes please. :) After than I like the flat. Don't know why I just like it better, more mechnical looking.. I think the drive level is ~500ma for the 2nd gen tapered/flat styles. No idea what the T4 is.

Yea, I was looking at the numbers last night.
Need to compare those to what lux reading im getting.
The KL3 had less overal output though, so I am guessing its a tighter beam.

I have both. Puting specs aside, the KL3 has the same through and thighter beam. The T4 does have a bit more usefull spill. Both are great!

Hope that helps

My 2nd KL3 is on the way...don't have a T4 to compare. I'm putting a F70 beamshaper on one, the other is my "bump in the night" light for sure!!

Running one on a 6Z with an A19 cell extender & clickie.

2nd one will be hosted on a C2 with an A19 cell extender & clickie as well.

Sorry I can't provide that comparison - but I'm a happy camper without the T4. I had a T1, T2, & T3... - sold the T1 & T3 - kept the T2.

Thanks city_cop, and welcome to the forum !

Sigman, yea I thought about the beam shapers also, but I imagine its all flood and no throw with one, no inbetween heh.

hmm, it fits on a C2?? I thought it only fit the M series, and the 6P lights?

The F70 is a "flip up" - just not as bulky as the FM64 and yep, the KL3 fits the D, Z, & C series don't know about the "M" series.
