Is it possible to run a Surefire 6P with a KL3 LED head on R123A batteries? These are the rechargable 123 cells, and are 3.6 volts each. So would the extra 1.2 volts hurt the light in any way? Thanks.

No, the brightness will be the same because the KL3 is regulated. The KL3 has the same brightness on 2x123 or 3x123. The runtime would increase with 3x123 compared to 2x123. I'm not sure what the runtime is with 2xR123, but I assume it would be a little less than with 2x123.

+1 everything Hoghead said, very spot ON

I use rechargeables a LOT, if you like incan, 2x R123 are great for 30 minutes of blinding bright white incan with a G90 lamp assembly, from DIgilight (eBay store or Tradedigit.com or blackrifles.com). Pennies per hour to use with R123 cells, 30 minutes of 175 lumens per set of 2. Also, you can use 17670 cell to power P60 and P61 lamp assemblies (same length as 2 cr123) -- 6 volt substitute. with A19 or lighthound MC123 cell extender you can run G90 for almost an hour with 2 175oo batteries (3-cell cr123 length). all three battery configs can be used for same brightness output of KL3 but longer runtimes with larger batteries, naturally.

Yeah, I am goign to be doing a big battery purchase from AW, to get me going in the world of rechargables. Man are they expensive....Oh well guess it saves in the long run.
