:help: I'm looking for a way to hold various types of surface mount led's for non destructive testing. I need to make/buy a series of sockets to hold different types of led's, such as the different Luxeon's now available.
Criteria is as follows:
Needs to hold led under test in a repeatable position while making proper electrical contact without soldering, and without obstructing the lens since that would affect light output.

Anyone come across something commercially available?
Suggestions?

Thank you all.

Last year, somone had a test jig that had a metal bottom for heat dissipation, a two fingered clamp t o hold it down and room to attach test clips to the leads. It was hand made, IIRC.

It also depends on what kind of testing you'll be doing as internal heating (junction) of the Lux will change it characteristics and junction temperature is very dependent on both the ability to connect the heatsink slug and the pad size (amount of copper) the leads are connected to. If it's just clipped, you'll get poor thermal dissipation (high thermal resistance) through the leads. For the Lux's, the heatsink slug might be enough tho.
