I have been reading about magmods here for a while any I have decided that I want to try one finally. I am looking for a luxeon led mod, and if possible direct drive so i don't have to mess around with any circuits. It doesn't matter what size of mag i need because I have not yet bought a mag to mod.

so what is a fairly easy mod to start out on?

p.s. I can solder and have an ok knowledge of electronics.

thanks

The simplest LED Magmod short of buying a 'drop in' would be a LuxIII in 2D host.

You'll need :

1) 2D Maglite
2) Heatsink (Hotlips / O-Sink)
3) LuxIII (Something with a Vf of 'K' is good for direct drive - ie TWOK, TXOK)
4) Arctic-Alumina epoxy
5) 3 x NiMh C cells
6) Rubber hose or similar - To make up diameter of C cells in Mag body to stop battery rattle.

Very satisfying first mod.....But it never ends there.........

Look for Photofanatic offers. He got plenty of nice binned Luxeon3 stars, or emitters.
