luxeon clone yes/no.

the subject whether or not the emitter in a number of made in china flashlights are real luxeons has come up a number of times.

just because the star does not have an bin number on the back.

it`s most likely a lot cheaper just to buy just the emitter and make you own heatsink or star.

what do you think ?.

There has been reports that these have "Lumileds" marked on them.

just because the star is an clone, after all it`s a lot easier to make a star, which is just a heatsink than it is to make an emitter.

99% of stuff you get from china is copied to one extent or another.

people that have compared the so-called fake emitters to original luxeon emitters say that they cannot tell the differance.

I could tell the difference with the one I had. I ran the current up to about 1000ma and it lasted almost 3 seconds.
