BUNA-N is listed as "highly resistant" to petroleum products, not including solvents.

What's the brand name? Does it list acetone on the label or did you find out some other way?

Pyroil is the brand name (Subsidary of Valvoline)
Its listed as a multi-purpose silicone lubricant
Contains - Heptane (142-82-5), Acetone (67-64-1), Polydimethylsiloxane (63148-62-9), Carbon Dioxide (124-38-9)

Can I use WD-40 as well, or does it contain some nasty universal synthetic rubber killing chemical?

Agree with SubUmbra - nitrile is good with heptane (petroleum based products). Usually the EPDM is what is killed by petroleum based lubricants (like WD-40). My EPDM Oring on the Nuwai died quickly under these conditions.

When in doubt, always good to look for a Materials Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) for a product. It will give safe handling, use, and storage info. plus a listing of the components/ingedients.

bh, you work for Aloha Airlines by any chance? :ironic:
%100 silicone is available, and Inova recommends it, so I use it.

..um..what do you chemist types think about 'Superlube' (the brand name) ?

Not to hijack the thread, but the question on Superlube is not really a chemical question. I think you are asking whether it works well and that is an application where someone would need to test. If you are asking if Superlube is compatible with nitrile/BunaN, then the ingredients would need to be determined. If the ingredients are petroleum based, it should be fine with BunaN.
