LED Lamp MR16 how much light does a normal Halogen produce so I can make a comparison

Are these any good
http://tinyurl.com/p8uhs

are there better alternates

Will the LED lamp produce the same amount of light as the Halogen ??

Can I get one that will ??

look
EACH LED EMITS 15000mcd (light output) using its own built-in focal lens giving a 20 degree light output (similar to diocroic lamps). The total light output is multiplied by 18 the number of leds in the lamp

Efficiency-wise, they are good but with 1.44 W of power, you won't reach far.
This LED MR16 outputs 270 Cd at 20 degrees and 1.44 W. That's 187,5 Cd/W.
A good halogen MR16 (Philips Masterline ES) outputs 120 - 130 Cd/W but they are 24 degree ones so roughly they should be about 150 Cd/W at 20 degrees.

If you need a very low powered one and you can live with crappy color rendering, go with the LED one. If you need more light than that, choose a halogen instead.

Quote form eBay seller: "EACH LED EMITS 15000mcd (light output) using its own built-in focal lens giving a 20 degree light output (similar to diocroic lamps). The total light output is multiplied by 18 the number of leds in the lamp"

Well...someones confuses candlepower and lumens again... 15000mcd is NOT light output, it's the brightness. Total light output is measured in lumens.

So...15cd per LED, 18 LEDs in total...... brightness of the lamp @ 1m is about 270 candela. Will it be that bright as halogen lamps? NO WAY!

A normal 60w Halogen produces perhaps around 800 lumens, this 18 LED cluster perhaps 40 lumens (only a guess).
