Solder new LEDs to A2?

Is it possible to cut off the original LEDs and solder brighter LEDs to the surefire A2? Would that mess up the regulation? Has this been done before?

It sure has, there've been threads about it quite recently as some of the popular LEDs won't work, as they're just slightly too big for the holes in the reflector. Check it out..
