My comparison between Lamda SMJLED PR2 and Superbright LED 1v-5v bulbs.

Superbright 1v-5v=
http://www.superbrightleds.com/cgi-bin/store/commerce.cgi?product=LIGHTS

I am very impressed with the SMJLED PR2 runtime, output and tight beam.

With AAA clone as sold on CPF for comparison.

I also ran the supplied incandescent bulb, which not only had poor RT, but also melted into the plastic of the torch, with continuous use !!!

minimum usefull illumination 8.

Horizontal divisions 30 mins.

nimh 2,000 mah

(You can compare relative output levels on my graphs)

I was having problems getting graph to display, reloaded and imageshacked it many times before it took. Any ideas why ?

I like the Graph, the SMJLED PR2 kicks 'Buttie'

Is the SMJLED running off 2AAs, the incan also 2AAs and the clone a single AAA?
If so.... not sure what the AAA light is there for?

I thought it was obvious.

Obviously not.

It is the bulbs that the RT graphs are for, not the batteries.:banghead:

Bulb was mentioned 3 times, nimh once.

I used the same Torch and nimh battery type for each bulb.

The battery was not a variable.

The Torch was not a variable.

Apart from the AAA Clone that is.:banghead:

Yes the 2 x AA's are a direct comparison with each other, however the AAA clone is there for comparison of output and RT, most CPF'ers will I think have the AAA clone, as a reference, and be able to rate the others.

As stated in my original Post !!!

They are ALL small workaday torches, ie the same torch with different Bulbs.

Apart from the AAA Clone that is.

The AAA Clone is there because it IS different.:banghead:

And YES, the battery is a different capacity, I couldn't, try as I may, get 2 x AA's to fit.

The AAA Clone is a reference.:banghead:

Ignore it if you need to.

NOTE: The SMJLED PR2 gives approx 3 stops more output, for longer, than any of the other LED's. :banghead:

PS: Nah, I can't be bothered. :banghead:

Rats, I've fallen WAY behind; now I feel bad becauseI don't own the 1xAAA clone that everyone (except me) uses for reference. I'm from the old days when the Arc AAA was the standard (wry grin).

Many thanks for the chart. I got my first six SMJLED PR2s yesterday and they make the old D-cell lights interesting again.

I wonder how one would work behind a big fake diamond in a ring (grin) ...

I have the older
PR2-W1-WVR LED FlashLight bulb , excellent bulbs.

Update 2013....

All the bulbs above are still going strong in my various torches, PIR lights etc, 7 years later. Equiv of 60p per year, so far.

Extremely well pleased, and they work down to nearly zero volts nimh, sometimes difficult to kick start charge.
