I went looking for my 2nd U2 Ultra today at my local Surefire dealer. They had 5 U2 Ultras in stock. 3 were the old body style with the slightly purplish head and 2 were the newer round style.

I found that all 3 of the older style had flawless white beams with no donut holes. One of the older styles had the slight flickering issue when the ring is adjusted between the highest and and next highest setting.

The 2 newer style U2s both had noticeable donut holes and slightly greenish tint.

Has anyone else observed "better" quality with the older style or do you think this was just an isolated incident? Remember i opened up all 5 lights and brought my own fresh set of batteries to test all 5 lights.

I purchased one of the older style with flawless beam. :twothumbs

Please say it isn't so. I am waiting on my replacement and I will flip if it is not right!
