What exactly does this mean?
How is todays date signifigant?
It is just a picture and description of some guys wacky LED plant.
As a project, wiring together this many (1152) LED's is just too much work.
I like the results though.

I think the reference is to '420', a common marijuana slang here in the US.

It originated (supposedly) with a group of Northern California high school students that got tegether each day at 4:20 in the afternoon to smoke pot. Somehow it caught on, and is now considered 'code' for smoking marijuana.

I learned of this when somebody pointed out to me that many of the clocks in the film Pulp Fiction are set to 4:20. Except for the scene set in the kitchen of Tarantino's character. It was at this moment in the film when the whole "420" thing was explained to me.

You're familiar with "51-50" as slang for "crazy"? Along the same line. If it can be abbreviated or enumerated, it catches on. Such as: Mag85.
