how to make a 2 stage light?

I think that is what you call it, 2 stages of brightness?...

Anyways, im going to be running a 20 watt halogen off 14.4 volts for a bike light. I want to be able to run it full power, and then maybe at 2/3 brightness. Anyone know how I would reach the 2/3 brightness level?

I'd recommend PWM dimming if you really want to dim a bulb but a simplier solution is to just use an additional lower wattage bulb.

Considering the cost of the bulbs im looking at, a secondary bulb would be a good solution. Always having a backup would be nice too.

Anyways, what is PWM dimming?
