Surefire 6p/KT1 2x R123 & NM21 (M6 HOLA)

forget mini-HID's... check out this mini-HOLA setup!
possibly the smallest 500 lumen light around...

current draw is 4.28 amps for this setup..

edit: my mistake in posting this unsafe use of bare li-ion in series. protected cells will not sustain current needed to run Hola.

Now that I like. I'm been using two protected R123's in my 6P with the P90 bulb. How are you able to light it? My setup won't light up the P91 bulb.

current draw is too large for protected cells...
will only work with bare cells...

be carefully using bare cells in series. I don't go pass 2x

have not done runtime test... not really a runtime guy. no patience....

I've got another 6P body bored out to 18.25mm. once I add an 123 extension. should be able to use 2x 150A for longer runtime.

2x 18650 would make it into M4 length. kinda of defeating purpose of a small powerful light.

That´s over 6C!
Definitely only for *very* short bursts, I´d guess about 5 min runtime at this rate of discharge.
...but interesting that those cells can actually light up the HOLA!
and nowadays R123´s are quite cheap

Wasn't cy the one who always preached lithium ion safety to us?

6C is way beyond the absolute max 3C limit. I wouldn't do it.

Doubt it. The voltage sag has to be enormous so the current draw would drop accordingly.

Now if you get a Dewalt 36V battery pack and tear it up (like I've been considering), then you might be able to do this safely

All turbohead LAs have the same dimensions? I never knew that..
That is crazier than when I did 2 R123s backing a P91 in a E2E with E2C

So you are underdriving it a bit. Just wait til we all have 123 size cells that can deliver the goods though!

:D

I recall something about another flashaholic who tried this stunt for short bursts and got away with it. Its only role was as a strobe, to deliver a couple of blinding flashes of light, then it would be backed up with a longer-running SF incan for normal use.

had a stupid attack when I first posted this :green:

but I'm glad I did now... this is evoving into an experiement in how hot li-ion cells gets after short runs. I'll be using in IF thermometer to monitor heat buildup at different time intervals.

this procedure should be totally safe as I'm monitoring heat buildup. removing cells, long before thermo run-away can occur.
