I too have considered getting the Z58 a while ago but bought the Z48 in the end. Have regretted that at first since the Z48 is higher in profile and bigger than the Z58, but then I was told the Z58 (as with the switch in the U2) has reliability problems and that it wouldn't work properly without proper maintenance, whereas the the Z48 is better built and has fewer problems. Is that true, and if so, why?

I'm now considering getting another clickie switch and don't know which one to go for. Kindly advise.

I guess that the goal of the SW02 / Z48/Z49 was for a guarded clickie switch for use by operators. To that end it was made robust, reliable & durable and large enough to be used by a gloved hand.

Too large for the non-operator so it was shrunk and in doing so I guess SureFire ran into some issues they are working hard to resolve.
