Accident on the set yesterday afternoon. A line of cars had their windshields busted out and sides damaged when the camera truck retention cable broke. No one was killed, but could have been very ugly. Not sure if anyone is interested in pics, so let me know if I should post anything more in this thread.

"New Yorker's"?? I didn't realize the Colonial Arcade was in New York.

Sure looks like Euclid Ave. in downtown Cleveland, Ohio!

BTW what exactly broke loose? Did the camera boom wind up swinging out towards the curb?
"Zulu" (camera truck) was tethered to keep it from colliding with the garbage truck (green). The idea was to film a full speed approach right up to the garbage truck. However, the tether (cable) to keep Zulu from impacting broke and whipped around breaking out back windows of cars on that side of the street along with side damage and even took out some tree limbs. The pedestrians on that side of the street lucked out b/c the cars were in the way. The individual owners of the cars were none too happy.

Here's Zulu:

Camera equipment on the front of Zulu (before impact):

Zulu after impact into green garbage truck (after cable snapped). Cable can be seen in the upper left corner behind the white and blue truck.

Scene re-staged with armored truck instead of Zulu:

Some of the damaged cars (they were parked one behind the other):

At least the film crew helped to vacuum all of the glass out of this guy's SUV:

Ya got that right! There are a couple of crew members that are in charge of slapping magnetic New York license plates on top of the Ohio plates on every car that might be in the shot.

It's the corner of Broadway and Wall street - looking north - I wasn't there, but recognize the corner - the clock and the building give it away (Used to work in 1 wall St)

Look for it in the January to May 2007 time frame. Not much time to post too many pics but here are a few. Film crew much more difficult to deal with on the weekend as opposed to during the week and greatly limited foot traffic during the shooting. Streets were closed off two blocks in each direction.

Here's the after shot after flipping the armored vehicle.
It was pulled over using two semi's. Note how close it flipped to the red car.

Here's a teaser of Spidey (stunt man) and, I believe, the director Sam Raimi.

Here's a shot of the "loot" in the back of the armored truck.

It's actually Euclid Avenue in Cleveland, doubling for New York. :sssh: :)

Sandman appearing as villain? COOL! Should have a lot of shape-shifting CGI effects.
