Question about KL1 LED

Got a quick question. I have an old style SF KL1-HA head. I use it regularly with my E1e and E2e bodies. I just found an old vital gear body I want to try with it. But it is a 3 cell body which would mean 9 volts. What is the voltage limit for the old KL1?

That's a good question, i thought I read someplace (quickbeam's website??) that it could handle 3-9v.. don't try it and blame me if bad things happen though..

Edit - nope, not quickbeam's website.. it definately says 3-6v only..

I guess I can't use the KL1 on it then. It's definitely an E series sized body, so I'm just trying to think what led/lamp I could possibly put on it? AFAIK, all the E series are only 2 cell right?

The latest KL1 can handle 9V.
I run one of my KL1 heads on two rechargeable CR123s (together 8,4V).
So three primary 123s shouldn't kill the LED, altough I don't have a
three cell body to try it out. And I'm only speaking for the latest KL1 generation
