(People under the age of 50, forgive me)

Lew Anderson died of cancer at the age of 84. Us old farts will remember him by his stage name, Clarabell the Clown, on the Howdy Doody Show. He was Buffalo Bob's sidekick. Every American kid who grew up in the 50' and early 60's knew him. It's a sad day for the Peanut Gallery.

He only spoke two words during the show. In the final show, and his last scene, he emotionally said "Goodbye, kids". They seem applicable now, too.

Wait a minute, Bob Keeshan (Captain Kangaroo) played Clarabell!
...

Oh yeah ... I guess some of the folks under 50 will even remember Lew Anderson as Clarabell ... he came on after Captain Kangaroo started :) .
