Here\'s some pictures of an LED conversion

OK. I still can't figure out how to put pictures on this forum!!! So, here's the link to a conversion I did of a regular 3 D cell radio shack flashlight to an LED light buy replacing the bulb. It's very dim. I don't know why.

Oh yea. The picure that ends in 16 is the one that is the LED light.

It is the ugliest flaslight I own. I was trying to find a 3D cell light in the house and I figured I'd give this one up to research. It is actually embarrasing to use in public (ie..to empty the garbage at night).

It hangs in the garage at night. So, my thought was to put an LED in it and forget about it. And, when the day comes that I need it, I won't have a dim yellow light because the batteries are almost gone.

But...what happened.

Did you test the LED before you began your project? I assume you soldered it into an old bulb base. Did you use a resistor? And if so, what value? Did you use proper heatsinking technique when soldering the LED connections? I use a hemostat on the base of the lead to prevent damage. It shouldn't be too hard to track down the problem.

None of the above. It was basically "swap" the bulb.

Do I dare try and put it in a 4 cell case?

PS: I LIKE THE NEW LOOK OF THE FORUM.

Can you check the draw in mA on the led? and what is the voltage of teh three batteries? Are they new?
