Zu den Drei Husaren in Vienna, Austria. Feasted on schwiensbraten, dumplings, salad and chased it all down with CZ Budweiss (real beer), and then retired to Demels for good coffee (grosse brauner) and sacher tort mit schlagg.

Caught some zzz's and hit the Stadts Oper at night, then off to the wine garden in Grinzing for more fun and festivities.:grin2: ...Then, then, it all came to and end!

By FAR the fanciest eating establishment I've been in was the Steakhouse atop Binions Horseshoe Casino in downtown Vegas.

Respectable second is (Man I hate my brain!) place who's name I can't remember that serves Steak.... OH YEAH "Steak and Ale" near my old house down in Houston.

Le France in a suburb of Chicago. One of the really good points about Chicago is their outstanding restaurants. When I lived there Le France was at the top of the heap. I ate lunch there once and had a "Prix Fixe" (fixed price) meal with several courses. I'm sorry to say I don't remember what I had but it was very good.

There have been a few, but my favorite is the Grand Hotel on Makinac Island in Michigan, I enjoy staying there and eating there when we go up over the Straits.

Photon, I have eaten at the top of the tower in Toronto on several occasions, it is very nice and a lot of fun. There is also a revolving resteraunt in a tower at Niagra Falls which is fun too :).

I don't much do "fancy". I did once eat a place in Houston called Las Alamedas. It's off of I-10 close to 610. Has a nice view of the trees and everything going down to the bayou, they light them up at night and have big picture windows. Big, fancy tables and waiters. Lots of "ambience" or whatever.

It's sort of, um, I guess Spanish food more than TexMex. The rice was green, and no it wasn't spoiled, just fancy. Calamari was good.

My friend calls it "Lost All My Money" because he went too and brought his girlfriend. They pigged out and she ordered dessert. His bill was like $110 before tipping!

There is a difference between fancy places where you largely pay for the experience, atmosphere and prestige of the place and places where you get great food and plenty of it. I have paid just under $200 once for myself and a date where I dressed up and every need was taken care of immediately. The food was served in many courses and the whole experience took about three hours but at the end I still wasn't remotely close to being stuffed. It was a great experience and I don't regret it but it certainly won't be repeated anytime soon. However there is this great local Chinese Buffet where for about $20 a head during evening meals, you can stuff yourself with all you can eat including the good stuff like crab legs and shrimp. That I go to several times a year.

In many places alcohol can greatly add to the bill. For Valentine's day I took my date to a really nice Seafood place. The total bill was about $70 but they were offering $7 glasses of wine in which we declined and drank water instead.

Probably when me and my ex gf went to NYC and ate on top of the roof top Hilton in Time Square. Rotating restuarant in a beautiful city, filet minon, beautiful lady = better than winning the luxeon lottery. :)
