I filed down a white 5600 LED just like the one in the Turtlelight. To get it shiny again I used one of thoes three in one nail buffers with the pink and white abrasive side and the grey buffer side. After all three steps it was just as clear as new. I put it in a AA Maglight with a drilled out reflector and 3 N cells. Nice tight little spotlight now. I filed it down until it was about a 64th of an inch from the metal cone inside.
