Re: declare your location if you need help.

Yeah, it would be nice. I don't see it as giving up too much information, either..

Re: declare your location if you need help.

I don't mind saying where I am in the body of a post where anyone may read it -- particularly if I'm looking for info like the examples above.

I do, however, have a real desire to keep it out of the Location field of my Profile where any information broker, insurance company, or porn site may write a few lines of PERL code and mine the stated Locations of all CPF members in one felled swoop and do whatever they want with them.

I certainly don't want a hard and fast location requirement for CPF. Those that won't give it out just won't get the info that they may need, that's all. In the 21st century all a location requirement would get you would be 90% bogus locations... and some of them would be very convincing.

If they aren't giving enough information, don't answer the question.

My pet peeve is people making thread titles like "I have a question" or "flashlight." I'm not even going to click on something with a title like that. If someone wants to be vague they could at least be so in a weird way that might play to my curiosity.

when you dont know what part of the world their from.

It`s quit easy to edit you profile to indicate what country your from.

I think it should be manditory to declare you county.

regards.

Any chance you could edit your first post, you're letting the UK side down, spelling etc...

Re: declare your location if you need help.

People who give advice often do not check the location of the person asking for help. I love seeing these lines of advice to international CPFers:
Dorcy AAA at Walmart for $6.
River Rock 2AAA at Target.
2 Sam's Club Element for $25.

Posters giving advice should also be aware many online manufacturers & retaillers do not ship internationally, use expensive coutiers, have different ordering procedures, have minimum order requirements.

I have missed the posted locations myself and have to edit my posts at a later date.

Snot just the spelling though is it? You've written "their" as an abbreviation for "they are", which it ain't; transposed "you" and "your" in two separate sentences and you've also used prepositions to end two sentences with.

Now go back and do it right or you'll be kept late after school every day this week.:tsk:

The other "you" for "your" and the "county" for "country". Good boy. Top marks for you.:goodjob:
