A friend has seen my torch conversion handywork and has asked me to modify his mini Mitylite torch to orange LED operation.
Has anyone done a similar modifiation?
The torch is made in Austrailia and is powered by 2 AAA cells. The miniature grain-of-wheat bulb comes in a plastic package with a reflector on the business end; it would appear that this plastic assembly is actually part of the replaceable bulb assembly. Somehow I've got to get inside this package, remove the defunct bulb and replace it with an LED and Resistor assembly. It would also appear that the aperture for the bulb is smaller than a standard 5 mm LED, so a smaller device will have to be fitted or some very delicate precision drilling will be required to enlarge the hole.
My friend also wants the torch to retain its watertightness after the mod, so I don't feel that I could modify the torch body in any way to accept a home-made LED capsule. Has anyone done this mod before?
