What kind of housings are you all using to make portable lights?

What hosts are you using to make portable lights?

I wanted to use a traditional host. But I was not able to come up with some good hosts that fit my needs.

One of the nice hosts that I just thought of was some of the portable hard drive enclosures. I know it is a little non standard. But it does have some good points.

It has a built in plug for power from USB or power adapter at 5V.

It has lots or at least a large aluminum surface.
It can support multiple LUX stars easily.
It has space for quite a few batteries and electronics.

Fry's has them on sale on occasion for $0.00 after rebate. I just missed a sale at memorial day.

They tail stand if desired.

Any one else have non standard good host suggestions?

The pelican cases are nice, but they are plastic. So you don't have any extra heat sinking.

I was thinking of good toy airplanes or other toys that already have 3 or 4 cell battery holders. Or other things that have good heatsinking to make them good choices for multiple lights and have good uses cheap.

But the pelican case is a good suggestion. Keep them coming.
