ARC AAA head to body fit

My new Arc AAA light head sticks out quite a bit from the body with a battery in it. The O-Ring is barely covered from the body of the light when off. Is this normal?

That's wierd.

Wouldn't that lead to a rather large decrease in weather protection?

None that I ever noticed. All of mine have less than half of the oring exposed, which means the oring is still pressed up against the battery tube sealing out moisture.
:)
