The Luxeon star is placed in the bottom half of the assembly, then the reflector assembly is fit on top and pressure crimped.

Ultrafire 602A (Fenix L1P clone) has a readily accessible 1W LED. Mine took a little work to get right, though. I think still $18.50 shipped from Dae.adirondackdestroyer said:

I really wanted a long lasting, high efficiency, water proof, shock proof, not afraid to bang up emergency light that runs on common cells. 1xAA doesn't cut it for runtime which is why I really liked the 4xAA for factor along with the plastic body.
