I read a thread in the General Flashlight Discussion about someone finding their stolen goods with positive ID by etching/engraving some kind of info onto it. See this thread for reference:

What is the best type of info that should be put on your gear for positive id? Address? Phone number? Drivers License #? Partial SSN? Morse Code? Hieroglyphics? Etc... :)

I like the idea of the drivers license # but I'm not sure if that could be used against me if the thief figures it out.

Call your local police department and your insurance company and ask what'll help your belongings be recovered.

Winny- I LIKE that one!

What happens if your DL number utilizes your SSN? My state of Hawaii issued one has my SSN on it. Don't know how it is now.

I saw someone engrave on their tools "Not Yours!"
