Depends on the Vf of the LED. The first reel of K2s 4sevens shipped out are voltage bin N which is from 4.23-4.47V. I'm sure they will be good with 3D cells. In fact they may not even be driven at full power. I'll soon find out.

I just modded a Diamond replacement module for my 3D mag and it works fine. The tint on the original was a yucky violet color and the K2 (UYAN) made it whiter though with a slight purple tint. There is a resistor in the module to limit amperage. I also modded my Ledbeam flashlight with a K2 also. It too had a violet tint to begin with, I believe that the Ledbeam is a little bit brighter with the K2 mod. The Diamond mod seemed about the same brightness. I tested a D cell with 80% charge on my DTS tester and it produced nearly 6 amps on my Simpson meter so you would have to use a resistor.
