Hey cy, how about taking that 3P body, adding a Detonator cell extender and a KT1/KT2 turbohead with 2 X R123 li-ion supplying the juice to one of ARC mania's SF TH modules? One of the guys posted a pic of this setup and it looked like one awesome little photon cannon.

my 3watt drop-in is a luxeon lottery winner at aprox. 60 lumens or about what a Ubin would put out. most will be more in 40 lumens range.

you mean like this.... 2x 123 would be more like a 6P

sorry, not a runtime guy... too impatient :D

here's a few more possibilities driving NM21 (500 lumens) with 2x 18650, 2x 150A, 2x xxx

note: 6P body and extender(s) can be easily bored out 18.3 mm to accept 18 mm cells.

3P is looking more and more attractive. I removed the plastic reverse polarity protection gizmo so does not put too much tension on cells. Got to be very careful about polarity, though.

270winchester is right about KL5, particulary if you have a low vf lux V, and your circuit is setup for boost only.

Dad's mint 3P for $90 is a real deal!

what makes 3P so atractive for modding is it will take a 3watt dropin and R123 li-ion with no changes. and body is thick enough to bore out for 18650 or 150A

unlike E1/2 series, which require a whole new LED head assembly. like KL4 and/or KL1, which are excellent lights!
but is changing form factor...

here's pic of 3P w/6P bezel..

3P's original 3V bulb puts out a pretty puny beam :green:
VS updated 3P with 60 lumen luxeon dropin, li-ion or primary 123.

been EDC'ing 3P, mostly for the cooool... factor :D

Hi Cy.

I'd be happy with a 1W in my 3p, but a 3W would be great! which do you recommend? I would run it on regular ol' 123s, I get 'em from work. Do they have enough ommph to run the drop-ins?
Thanks

sorry not familiar with one watt dropin modules. what really counts is what type board is driving luxeon.

my 3watt dropin module will run 1x CR123, but at aprox. 50% output. it really prefer to run on R123 li-ion. this indicates a buck board is being used.

R123 cost $3-4 ea, chargers are pretty expensive too. then you get guilt free lumens...
