Sorry. Just heard about the battery lenghts and which battery is the best for the ARC 4?

I had an Arc 4+ Rev2 and it worked fine with Duracell, Energizer, Panasonic, Surefire, BatteryStation, Sanyo.., but seems to work better with Duracell and Energizer.

I have some small copper shim discs if you need/want them that can make up for short cells.most all the cells I have used were a little short my shims are slightly concave and can be adjusted to make up more or less length.

Great, so i wont see any difference if i have surefire 123A Batteries in them?

No differance in brightness just runtimes with different batteries.
