I've played with those before.. I'd give them a 7, I guess, very good for what they're intended to do..

I wonder how it compares to the Storm Whistle-
it claims to be the loudest whistle in the world, but maybe a horn and whistle don't compete with one another.

How hard you have to blow is subjective - I was a tuba player so hard for you might be whistling for me.. I don't feel like it's very hard to blow at all..

And no, whistles and horns are apples and oranges in this case. WAY different, the different pitches carry in totally different ways..

I've got both the Storm and the Orion. I've got two different sizes of the Orion. The larger uses a plastic/bread bag/wax paper (almost whatever you have) as a membrane that can be swapped out if it rips or tears. Not sure if you can do that to the smaller one or not.

The Orion is CONSIDERABLY LOUDER than the Storm with little effort from the ole' lungs!

BTW - I took some vacuum cleaner hose extensions...when you add them to the Orion the deeper the sound as in FOG HORN type noise!

Get one check it out! GREAT signal to have in a kit! I wonder if the price difference in the ones you have linked are because of size?

I had an opportunity to get some in different colors - got a couple in the local college/high school colors. I was almost tempted to buy a group of these in bulk and sell em' to the fans, boaters, hikers, & hunters up here at a gun show. Maybe I'll revisit that thought. I think it's a worthy product.
