I was wondering who here uses rechargeable lithium ions in their LED Surefire lights? Especially the 5W lights like the L2/L4/ect.

What kind of runtimes and brightness do you get>?

I use AW cells in my L2 & L4 (14670 for the L2, 17670 for the L4). My L4 gets over an hour of regulated light, then drops FAST after that, followed by some rapid flickering before lights out. I haven't tested my L2, but AW's 14670 post states 37 minutes on high and 12 minutes on low before protection kicks in, IIRC. I only wish there was a way to squeeze a 14670 into an L2, since I like it so much better than my L4.

Here, too. I use a Pila 168s (brand name protected 17670) in my L4 and it works great. It wouldn't surprise me to find that most L4 owners are using rechargeables.

L4 on AW protected 17670... 60-70 minutes of full brightness, then rapidly dropping output. Sometimes I use the KL4 head on my E1e body, with an unprotected rcr123 from Dae, never really did take note of the runtime as I swap the cell after 15 minutes... Don't want to take the risk with unprotected li-ion... love my lights too much for that :)

L4, L2, U2 all runnning on rechargeables. No problems so far. Great runtime, some decrease in output but not all that much.

I use AW's 17670 in my L4 w/two way switch and it is one of my favorite lights, though I haven't yet measured runtimes.

I use AW 14670 in my L2.

Here's a somewhat qualitative answer. When I take my walk I use the high beam for ~15 minutes at the tail end of my walk. Into my third walk i would say I notice it dimming; it is still plenty bright though. I have never used it to the point of it having the protection kick in.
