Wow, looks like the CR2 Ion is brighter everywhere, except for the center spot, would this be an accurate statement John? (seeing lights in person is different than in pics)..

    Doug,

The CR2 ION is a true flood light, it can light up a room, the "hotspot" is almost too big to be seen it seems to blend into the light.

    It's a good little light

The CR2 Ion is basically for close-up and short distances because it has a smooth flood type beam. When it is compared with a Jil in this thread it shows the Jil 1.3 illuminating the bookcase very well at 28ft away but the CR2 Ion didn't show much clear detail at that distance.

It is brighter using the protected IC LiON battery but then you lose that sweet low level.

It's still one of my fave lights

But so is the Jil DD

Yea, that would be accurate Doug,

    There is virtually no spot,
it just lights up a huge area.
The pics are pretty accurate, the spill is brighter than the other lights,
so if you dont pay attention to the hotspots, you can tell it has alot of overal light output.

Makes a great in the house light.
Very small and light, and no distracting hotspot.

Yup, huge flood. If you're used to Lux beams, seeing the Ion's beam can be a little surprising at first. Great beam, IMO.

Here is a photo of the angle of the CR2 Ion's beam:

The CR2 Ion's has a noticeable brighter circle of light in the center of the beam if I shine the light at a wall but I am unable to define a demarcation line when I was measuring angles - the bright center of the beam just blends into the spill. The beam is a bright cone of light covering an angle of 60 degrees with a dimmer corona coverina an additional 15 degrees to either side for a total of a 90 degree wide beam.
