Today at my local gun show, I stopped by the Leach Enterprises display (very nice folks and a pleasure to do business with) and picked up a new bulb assembly for my Magnum Plus. What I discovered pleasantly surprised me.
The bulb assembly is faceted with many, but tiny, facets. It is very similar to the faceting on the SF Ex lights but not as pronounced.
Tonight, some comparison was called for. The candidates: the Magnum Plus and SF E1. At equal distance, the hot spot is almost identical. I'd estimate that the Pelican wasn't more than 2 inches larger in diameter at 20 feet.
The SF was much brighter as is to be expected. Both lights aren't known for being difuse but Pelican has a reputation for being very tight. The new assembly changes that albeit slightly.
Overall, this is a good new product for Pelican.
