Hello all,

I just ordered protected 17500's from AW and have a surefire L6 on the way. What kind of runtime should I expect from the Li-Ions?

Thanks!

hrmmmm..I dont own an L6 but... according to my calculations:

According to surefire an L6 has a regulated runtime of 1.5 hours and 2.5 hours dimimishing output. Cr123a cells hold about 1300mAh.

17500 cells hold about 1100mAh of charge.

so 1100/1300 = 0.85

so 17500 cells should provide about 85 percent of the runtime of regular cr123a cells. ie. approximately 75minutes regulated light output.

Hope that helps.

You might have to re-do calculations. LiIon's X2= 1100mA's at 7.6 volts (8.4 fully charged). Three CR123 = 9 volts at 1300mA's (9.75 fresh) . Will maybe your calculations are not too far off, except LiIon's will hold their voltage better than the three CR123's. Not sure though, in this case. Other issue to consider is Surefires claims of 1 1/2 hours regulated. Check out runtests, available in Reviews. Other issue is improved emiters, and lower vf lux 5's available, that SF would have access to. I will be receiving my L6 soon, and will do some tests, though not the high level tests than some CPF'ers do, but I do have a lightmeter, and bounce tests and lux readings work for me.

I never did a runtime with 3XRCR123's, or 2X17500's. Figure that 3XRCR=12.6 volts X .6 or .5 (amps), compared to 2X17500= 8.4 volts X 1.0 (amps) to equal watt/hours. I have used max voltage for both LiIon's, so this is just for comparison only. Whatever, the 2X17500 will have more watt/hours than the 3XRCR's.
