Yeah, rebates are a hassle, but this is a pretty decent deal even without the rebate.

How reliable are rebates? My sister once ordered a card reader that's supposedly free after rebates but the check never came.

Rebates have been quite reliable to me lately.... I don't think there has been even one I didn't receive in the last five years.

That has changed since quite a few years ago when I did a segment on my TV program (I used to write, co-produce and do the on air presentation in a weekly show on a network affiliate back in the late 80s).... When rebates were really unreliable.

But since then, my rule of thumb has been: Buy it if the actual price is reasonable, then treat the rebate as an 'early birthday present".... (I wouldn't have even posted the original in this thread if I didn't think the price was pretty good even without the rebate.)

The price is pretty good even without the rebate but $30 is 30% of the price and that's huge in terms of the total savings.
