Tritium, Strontium Aluminate & 25 9000+ mcd Nicha\'s
Makes one of these!!!
Ok I used the Radio Shack $7.00 Water proof 3D cell wonder and added 25 9000+ mcd Nichas (way brighter than a single overdriven LS)... Mixed up some Strontium Aluminate Glow powder in 15 minute clear epoxy. Dismembered 8 glow rings and inserted the elements. Popped the reflector in and filled er up. I am so impressed with this thing I may make another and take a little more time.
The Tritium elements are surprisingly bright and give off quite a glow in the head for the next 15 years or so...
They do give off enough light to see in complete darkness.
I will always be able to find this light in the dark. The LED's are extremely bright and they charge the glow powder Epoxy nicely... My only regret is that a tiny spot in the face did not get completely filled in with the glow-Epoxy. (A risk one takes with pouring the stuff carefully in the Bulb hole in the reflector from the back to fill it up... Air bubble) Next time I think I will use slower acting Epoxy.
The picture with the glow ring elements at there brightest was taken with out any light stimulation for the Glow-Epoxy for over 12 hours. The glowing Epoxy shot is about 10 minutes after a good charge and gives off more than enough light to walk around with.
