MAC Powerbook a'splodes

Yep -- my Powerbook escaped the recalled serial numbers, but the MacBook Pro didn't. I just received my replacement battery a few days ago. Apple claims the batteries are perfectly safe but just aren't up to standards.

I wasn't taking any risks. Returned it pronto, no 2nd thoughts.

yup, gotta pay attention to those battery recalls. Apple has had 2 now in living memory, not including the recall of the very first liions they ever sold in the initial batch of 5300's.

As their market share continues to increase they will get bitten by bad batteries more often too I expect. This particular bad battery was recalled like 2 years ago I think. At least that is what other discussion is thinking elsewhere. The time frame of it is correct to have been in the earlier one, though I think you're going to have trouble getting a serial number off it now.

Obviously these problems with LiIon batts need to get sorted out. Lets hope the new chemistries get picked up in a hurry.
