I used a DeWalt 
With the traditional bow drill that someone demonstrated (and later gave me the sticks and the wood) it took about 2 mins before you got smoke. When I tried it with the electric drill, I just pressed down hard and it began smokeing within a few seconds.
I figured I could have used some more tinder or make some Char-cloth for that type of firestarting.

A couple of pieces of fine wire + minimag with bulb removed + tinder = fire!!
