The rings do screw down flush, but that is without the window and the reflector. I make an undercut at the end of the threads, so they will screw down, but there should be a gap, when everything is together. I'll post a photo of mine, showing proper gaps, in a little while.

Makes me feel better that mine is gapping then. Why should there be this gap?

I just leaves too little room for error. The cell tube face must contact the E-can, and the bezel needs to hold the window tight. You could lap the bezel down to close the gap, but I wouldn't alter the length of the cell tube.

The gap is uniform on both sides, i.e., cell tube to head, and bezel ring to the head. You could lap the bezel ring down, but don't take too much and make sure you remove an even amount of material so it places uniform pressure on the window. I think it looks better with a uniform gap at both ends...

That makes sense to me. You have to be sure that what locks the bezel ring tight is the pressure it applies on the wondows, nothing else. I also think the small gap is better looking than no gap at all, but that's personnal taste...

TB, are you planning to duplicate aleph parts in titanium like morelite does?
