Maglite 2D with a Madmax?

Ok, I wasn't sure if this should go in it's own post or not but here goes.... I have a Maglite 2D that I've converted to use 3Cs with a 1w luxeon direct driven. I'm thinking about turning this back into a 2D with a 1w luxeon and a Madmax driving it. Would anyone know the general run times between the two setups? I'm pretty sure the brightness would be about the same. I just don't want to do this if the runtime would be significantly less. Also does the Madmax board itself need heatsinking if the luxeon is mounted separately to a heatsink? I have a "leftover" madmax board that I want to use and I just don't want to stick it in another 2aa minimag. I thought this would be something a bit different. Thanks!

I can't tell you what the runtimes would be, so, I'll leave that to others.

As for heatsinking the Madmax. the Madmax runs pretty cool and will not need any heatsinking.
