XX1T ArcMania Tower, was Mac's but found a new home.... And a New Turbohead....

I put a rare SureFire T3 head on a 6P host, this X-binned towermodule with this T3 head freakin rocks! Most SF TH's are stippled and reduce throw. This T3 is very lightly stippled, but just barley, it looks mirrored. Most SF TH's are 2.5 inches in diameter, the T3 is 3 inches, givin it a lil more oomph. You wanna talk Throw out of a Lux V? This thing throws a tight beam! I'm running 2 x R123.

Whoow,,,

That is a very powerfull led-torch you have,, youre right, this can throw!!

Neat stuff!!

Regards,

Ra.

Oh, I forgot to ask: Isn't 2x123's too low on voltage for the lux-V ??
Or are you using step-up electronics?

Oh I get it: they are rechargeables !! so higher on voltage, MY MISTAKE!!

Laterrr.

Nice. Do you have pics from a KT TH for comparison? Or how about pics from a HD45 XX1T?

Wow, thats one mean looking light.

How is the heat transfer from the module to the head?

Re: Who says Lux V's can't throw?

My quick calculations say you can reach up to 20,000 beam-cp's with those baby's!!

If you overdrive the lux-V to about 220 lumens output you'll probably outthrow the brightest maglite !! With sufficient cooling it can be done..

How would i overdrive it? The input voltage is 6V-16V, i think....

I dont have any board, its just a ArcMania Tower Module...

Re: Who says Lux V's can't throw?

I thought you were using regargeable 123's. It seems you use a constant current-module so indeed you cannot overdrive the lux-V !

I run lux-V at 1.4 amp's successfully for a year now without any problems, generating about 230 bulblumens.
So that would give about twice the throw !!

But it is tricky: I use two lithium-regargeables (1.2 Ah) without electronics, it the internal resistance of the cells becomes too low they will burn my lux-V (or at least the internal feed-wires) !! And you need a very effective heatsink !!

Thanks Mac.

I can run 2 x R123's right, I dont wanna screw this thing up.

I also have an detonator extender so i can run 3 x Cr123.

Yes TrueBlue said you can run 2x Lithiums but I would think 3x would be more efficient.

Re: Who says Lux V's can't throw?

Hello Guys......thought i could share some pictures. (I'm a newbie)

I compare the HD45 Bin#XXIT with ARCMANIA Tower Module BIN#XWOT (Surefire Turbohead and T3). I would say T3 throw the furthest with a round beam. The distance is about 150 feet or more from my location.

I have not done any runtime on these lights and really not sure what's in the Tower module except as described by PSM. (i only know it is driven at 1 amp)

Re: Who says Lux V's can't throw?

if the arcmania tower module was the one that was built by arcmania, then it should have a regulator in it, a pretty efficient one at that
the regulator is hidden inside the towermodule

OH MAN!

This thing is by far the best throwing led I own.... It shines an HID like beam into the sky when pointed straight up.

Heres a free handed beam shot..... The green shed is 190-200 ft out. Compared with other popular lights.
