Where can I buy half size D rechargeables?

Looking through the achieves I find mention of half size D nimh rechargeable batteries. Where can I find these on line?
I'm all so after a source for springs to use in a 3AA to D adapter I plan to make. Or other ideas for this type of adapter. I had planed just to use double side circuit board. All other ideas and links welcome.

You can get NiCd 1/2 D cells from Battery Station .

They're only 2400Mah though.

There was a group buy which seemed to die a death a while ago for some 3500 or 4000mah 1/2D cells.
I think the shipping charges put most people off.......

Off Nimh sizes need work. I don't expect the halfsize batteries or 1/3 size to get exactly the ratio of output, but if you look at where they are now, the off sizes need some SERIOUS work. I'd love to use some 1/3 AA or 1/2AA batteries or 1/2C in my lights, but the capacity is so low it isn't worth the loss to get the voltage :awman:
